2a feira ... situation: critical!

by perplex3r, em 15.03.21

'Cause you're free
To do what you want to do
You've got to live your life
Do what you want to do

English/Inglês

Situation: Critical is that moment when hope seems exhausted, in a mixture of tiredness and resignation. As we have been feeling throughout the cold months of 2021. With the phrase After all this time, you think somebody might of learned their lesson the album is opened, almost as if it were a sacred scripture, reminding us that many times our lessons were of no use and, unnecessarily, we tried to experience moments of suffering that do nothing but bring feelings of déjà vú.

Found a Cure merges with the relentless pursuit of New Kind of Medicine; let us say that we often have to seek the best experiences from the past to be the basis of internal progress that leads us to something new and much, much more joyful. Like the situation that the world nowadays experiences, we have all had our quarantine periods, in which our hearts were closed, only going out at specific times and retreated into the room, under the gloom. After that, and without the help of Artificial Intelligence, he looked for the necessary antibodies to no longer have toxic connections.

Ultra Naté reached stardom in 1998 (# 17 UK Album Charts) with an album that could very well be a Maya prophecy of our hearts or, years later, of the world. Throughout 10 original tracks, we managed to have a mix of disco, dance, pop, garage house and vocal house, with calmer moments but full of beats that would brighten up any evening party. After all, we have Master At Work, Mood II Swing and D-Influence pills that give us the immunity we need to continue with our (love) stories, at least, until the next overwhelming passion.

That is why, and not only, it is possible to understand why Free became an anthem of a generation that wanted to free itself from emotional shackles and handcuffs that blamed the culture of electronic music ... four walls of your prison room.

But,we are less further to sing, under a mirror ball at 4 in the morning:

'Cause you're free
To do what you want to do
You've got to live your life
Do what you want to do

lock:down .... (com) um lindo soulstice!

Sousltice

I've been losing leaving
Fooling, deceiving
I've been stealing, hiding
Calling, crying

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Que o diabo venha e escolha ....

English/ Inglês

Confined in a small space that are the square meters of our house, which cannot contain all our joys, sorrows, experiences, disappointments and experiences without memory, we found the first song on the Soulstice remix album, Mixed Illusions.

Illusion was the title of the first album, as was the reality that we felt was eternal until so recently, and that needed a new, more cheerful outfit, farther from downtempo and trip hop, that we thought life would bring us until ... 2020. Yes, the passionate love affairs we knew each weekend, each day when we grouped in a circle after a gin and a discount of academic beer were pure illusions or heard the sound of "log on" on the extinct MSN Messenger.

Mixed Illusions, like our days today, bring joys, ups and downs filled with intermittent sounds that travel and deepen the memories of daily synthesizers that we hear early in the morning. Lockdown opens, without hesitation, what the initial album did not achieve and transposed us to an unparalleled journey with the voice of Gina Rene (A Thousand Years with Julius Papp), which through Falling leaves us melancholy, thoughtful and anxious. If our lives had to be remixed with mixers in mp3 and dubious pen drives, why do we doubt? Probably, a remix album does not bring anything new, many of us think, which is not the case, since Miguel Migs, and Filla Brazillia manage to transform the melodies into new experiences and journeys, never heard and experienced or adequate to one or another situation in our life, whether happy or sad:

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Take your pick ....

Sade, dis-moi; Sade, donne-moi
Sade, tell me; Sade, give me

English/Inglês
We all have desires, desires to get a new job, to be wealthier, and more than the ones that are instigated, there are always those which (for a puritan vision)are too sinful for this world.
Sadness (Part 1) by Enigma (5 million singles sold) mixes religious chants, the sensual vocals by German singer Sandra, who had Maria Magdalena in the charts in the 80's with a male voice that questions the desires of Marquis de Sade. Those are desires mingled in a song that reached number one for 5 weeks on the Eurochart and in more than 24 countries (UK and USA, for example) and in some of them the title was changed to Sadness (Part 1), removing, in that way, the sin that this single could contain  giving to it more melancholy than responses to carnal desires.
In this way, as in the song, we can always question our most intimate desires, we can even mix the purest things we have in us without forgetting what’s on the other side of the mirror, that pleasure that can be given by the other, that one when two bodies come together and share the most intimate things they have. Here the name of the Marquis is replaced by yours, because the questions that are asked him can well be answered by you. In fact,  in this mixture of flute sounds and beats you may well meditate on to what extend you are closed by conventions and obsolete or limited traditions.
In short, it is not only Sadeness that is uptodate 27 years later, but also the album MCMXC which is more than a search through a medieval world, full of forest sounds, of fetters that hold the hands and the minds and of people who want to find unique and liberating answers to their most intimate questions. To start this journey, through the video, we have the Principles of Lust, the trilogy in which Sadeness is part of, because sinning never harmed anyone!
