Quando a semana ainda vai a meio, assim como aqueles papéis mal organizados em cima da mesa, com todos os post its cheio de anotações, agendas repletas de riscos e de palavras mal desenhadas, não é possível, num belo dia de sol e de calor quase primaveril, estragarmos a alegria que sentimos com coisas sem sentido.

Cried Me a River, apesar de escrito no passado, é um sentimento bem presente com uma letra melodiosa que nos reporta a campos onde vemos desabrocharem flores de esperança. Não devemos nos importar sempre com tudo que nos dizem, não devemos sequer sentir dor de quem não quer ser ajudado ou, até mesmo, de quem usa uma certa chantagem sensual para agarrar o nosso olhar e nos fazer deixar de ver.

Jersey St, neste conto de vocal house, atinge essa maturidade que, para muitos, demora anos a desenvolver, mas que é perfeitamente atingível com toda a nossa história de vida.Tal como a vida, existem aqui duas edições neste 12", a versão vocal house, com a história bem contada à nossa frente e a versão dub, que mais não é que uma versão instrumental para nós escrevermos momentos da nossa história num banco de jardim ou num passeio junto ao mar...

Ou, neste momento, na varanda com uma lata de Super Bock fresquinha debaixo do silêncio da noite!

When the week is still in the middle, as well as those badly organized papers on the table, with all the post its full of notes, diaries full of risks and badly drawn words, it is not possible, on a beautiful spring day of sun and heat, spoiling the joy we feel with meaningless things.

Cried Me a River, despite written in the past, is a very present feeling with melodious lyrics that takes us to fields where we see flowers of hope blooming. We shouldn't always care about everything they tell us, we shouldn't even feel pain from those who don't want to be helped or even from those who use a certain sensual blackmail to grab our gaze and make us stop seeing things.

Jersey St, in this vocal house tale, reaches that maturity that, for many, takes years to develop, but which is perfectly attainable with our entire life story. Like life, there are two editions in this 12" , the vocal house version with the story well told in front of us and the dub version, which is nothing more than an instrumental version for us to write moments of our history on a garden bench or on a walk by the sea ...

Or, right now, on the balcony with fresh can of Super Bock under the silence of the night!

Lou Ottens (1926-2021), faleceu esta semana. O inventor da cassete é culpado pelo esbanjar de mesadas em fitas cheias de música alegre, triste, com mais ou menos qualidade (se olharmos para essas edições aos olhos de hoje), que serviram para abrilhantar as festas de garagem, as caminhadas com o nosso walkman, as viagens longas até ao Algarve e, mais que isso, levou gerações a perderem horas infindáveis a gravar aquelas MixTapes especialmente concebidas para os nossos amigos. Depois, com todo aquele orgulho visível nos nossos olhos, entregávamos a playlist escrita à mão e, com um grande sorriso, dizíamos: Gravei a pensar em ti!

Anos volvidos, e saudosismos à parte, o Lado A sempre se sobrepôs ao Lado B destas compilações. Todos sabemos que as melhores canções (ou aquelas que gostamos mais) estão logo no início da fita. Talvez por isso, quando construímos uma compilação, a nossa criatividade, bom gosto, esforço e empenho se vão atenuando ao longo da longa fita de 30 minutos ... às vezes queremos apenas preencher aqueles minutos finais só para, imagine-se, não ficarmos com a sensação de que nada fizemos ou dissémos...é para isso que serve o Lado B?

Ainda continuamos a gravar histórias em fitas que se vão partindo, colando e, por vezes, deteorando com o tempo, mas como estamos no melhor dia da semana, não podemos terminar como se estivéssemos com as pilhas Duracell no fim e a nossa festa a terminar...Afinal de contas, podemos sempre fazer rewind e gravar por cima, não é verdade? Uma coisa é certa, não podemos é estar em pause até que aquela música que nos enche o coração passe na rádio para a gravarmos religiosamente ... Levanta-te, escolhe a tua bebida favorita e press play ... hoje vais viajar no tempo a sorrir!

Lou Ottens (1926-2021), passed away this week. The inventor of the cassette is to blame for the waste of pocket money on tapes full of happy or sad music, with more or less quality (if we look at these editions in the eyes of today), which were used to brighten up garage parties, walks with our walkman, long trips to the Algarve and, above that, it led us losing endless hours recording those MixTapes specially for our friends. Then, with all that pride visible in our eyes, we handed out a handwritten playlist and, with a big smile, we said: I recorded this tape thinking about you!

Years later, and nostalgia aside, Side A has always overlapped Side B of these compilations. We all know that the best songs (or the ones we like the most) are right at the beginning of the tape. Maybe that's why, when we build a compilation, our creativity, good taste, effort and commitment are attenuated over the long 30-minute tape ... sometimes we just want to fill those final minutes just to, imagine, not to get the feeling that we didn't do or say anything ... is that what Side B is for?

We still continue to record stories on tapes that break, glue back together and sometimes degrade over time, but as we are on the best day of the week, we cannot end as if we were with the Duracell batteries at the end and our party ending ... After all, we can always rewind and record all over again, right? One thing is for sure, we cannot be on pause until that song that fills our hearts is played on the radio for us to record it religiously ... Get up, choose your favorite drink and press play ... today you will travel back in time smiling!

É sexta-feira e estamos quase todos a abandonar os nossos escritórios, escolas e tudo o que nos faz ansiar pelo fim de semana. Avizinha-se um final de tarde com uma mesa repleta de copos de cervejas do mundo, uns olhares marotos por trás dos óculos de sol, um flirt por entre a fila para o bar e imensos risos descontraídos. É aí que podemos retirar o I can teach you a thing or two e atribuir-lhe toda a conotação para quando estamos a chegar àquela hora em que sentimos calor .... e esse calor é tudo menos por causa do tempo!
Será por isso, Yeah Yeah 2017 (nº1 Billboard's Dance Club Songs) está aí para te acompanhar pela noite dentro .... e até mesmo até pela manhã, naquele after party que (de certeza?) poderás ir. Originalmente editado em 2007 (nº2 UK Charts) pelos Bodyrox, a versão de aniversário é produzida por Dave Audé, mas mantém a fabulosa, excêntrica e poderosa voz de Luciana (também ela já uma referência neste  e que colaborou com Martijn Ten Velden, Richard Vission e Mark Knight) e adiciona-lhe todas as batidas e loops próprias para qualquer festa deste ano. A versão do vídeo é bem mais agressiva ... não aconselhável a quem teme um dancefloor cheio de luzes, óculos-de-sol, e bebidas q.b., pois pode provocar um eargasm ali mesmo. Esta versão foi remisturada por Tom Staar e é extremamente aditiva e, para muitos, representa o som necessário para as 7 da manhã.
Será na pista ou até mesmo por volta do meio dia, depois de irmos a rastejar pelas ruas para chegar a casa, a beber água e a sentir o sol e o mundo já acordado, que poderás ensinar alguma coisa ... ou mais que uma! Todos sabemos que há coisas que não é necessário ser professor ....

It's Friday and we are almost all leaving our offices, schools and everything that makes us yearn for the weekend. We can forsee a late afternoon with a table full of beers from all over the world, a hazy look behind the sunglasses, a flirt while queueing for the bar and lots of laid back laughter. That's when we can take the sentence I can teach you a thing or two and give it all the correct connotation when the time we feel hotter arrives .... and this heat is caused by  anything but the weather!
That's why, Yeah Yeah 2017 (nº1 Billboard's Dance Club Songs)  is there to accompany you through the night ... and even into the morning, in that after party that (for sure?) you can go. Originally released in 2007 (nº2 UK Charts) by Bodyrox, the anniversary version is produced by Dave Audé, but retains the fabulous, eccentric and powerful voice of Luciana (she's already a reference in this blog and has collaborated with Martijn Ten Velden, Richard Vission and Mark Knight) and adds all the beats and loops for any party this year. The version of the video is much more aggressive ... not advisable to those who fear a dancefloor full of lights, sunglasses, and and loads of drinks, as it can cause an eargasm right there. The version was remixed by Tom Staar and is extremely addictive and for many it may represent the sound needed for 7 a.m..
It will be on the dancefloor or even around noon, after we crawl through the streets to get home, drinking water and feeling the sun and the world is already awaken, that you can teach something ... or more than one ! We all know there are things that it is not necessary to be a teacher to teach ....
