(English/Inglês)

We ended Sunday surrendered to habits that take us away from walks together, short open and sentimental conversations, running under the trees, unfocused photographs, but full of emotions by the sea. Finally, adult games to which two bodies are resigned to living only in their memory. Perhaps that is why, every second we move away from the word us. After all, if great empires have already fallen by emperors who took everything for granted, why can't our little castle be overthrown as well?

But not everything is lost! On the second, try we have everything to work out if we are really able to see deeply who is on our side, whatever type of relationship it is, but we do not take it for granted. That will be the magic that Sage (Ambroise Willaume) manages to bring in one of the most beautiful French soundtracks of our 1920s, from the movie Mon Inconnue (2019) by Hugo Gélin, with that passionate couple starring François Civil and Joséphine Japy.

We start this trip with two vocalized tracks, just like we start each of our relationships, because we already have knowledge of the world, but then we go on paths that only we can walk, discover; stories that only we can write, put each word, one after the other until we have clear or unfinished sentences. It is like this, that we continue with melodies on piano, in a total of 12 tracks that will want to give us that second chance .... After all, we can only learn from our mistakes, right?

The film, that one, is well worth watching .... but it is already a written chapter that is not ours. Here, we steal the soundtrack and, after recording our second passion, we have all the time in the world to compare it with stories in which Paris is as romantic as that small street that leads to the riverside in any city in the north of Portugal in Spring.

Frühling ... primavera melancólica!

by perplex3r, em 22.03.21

2raumwohnung

Happy Spring!

English/Inglês

This 2 bedroom apartment (meaning of 2Raumwohnung) opens its windows to let in the still cold sun of the first spring mornings, warming your soul with the a mixture of classic instruments and bossa nova melodies on the album Melancolish Schön.

Bossa nova in German? Yes. We break down prejudices about a language that is no longer felt as harsh, cold and distant, that brings a melancholy joy of spring that has barely begun, just as we must do every day. Our relationships start in the morning, and we may not fully understand the other person, his attitudes or even his gaze, but if we listen carefully, we can feel what he is saying, even without words.

So, even for those who do not understand the language of declensions, long words and capital letters in the middle of the sentences, Wir trafen uns in einem Garten transports anyone to that garden bench, where we are with a smile and a light breeze through the  hair and we can’t explain why we’re in love. Spiel Mit, tell us that, just one look is enough to read each other's minds and knowing how much we want to touch each other and get closer, under a tree of that garden. How many sensations this acoustic album by this electronic band can bring, despite being released in 2005, all due to the vocal sweetness of Inge Humpe and instrumentalized by Tommi Eckard. Poetic!

The album ends the trip with Liebe (Love), the cupid that Spring brings to see if, after this physical and mental confinement, it will be like this, we gradually let ourselves fall in love with each other, even when our language doesn't have the same terms, our color is different and our projects do not intersect.

Happy Spring!

by perplex3r, em 01.03.21

English/ Inglês

Mondays, even without the boring traffic, the run for the last buses and the long waits for the delayed trains, they continue to be virtually exhausting when we want to travel to the comfort of our home.

La Maison de Gabin, which combines the classic piano with bossa nova, leads, even without a voice to direct us, to a relaxing moment after work. We are going to make that return trip, tired, slightly sad, but we know that dinner for two will delight our soul and, if not, our sofa will make us not feel alone in front of a pixelated image of a any streaming service. This is what the first album of this Italian band, composed by Filippo Clary and Max Bottini, can make us feel, even after melodies full of sounds with jazz influences and vocals that resort to the stories of Gypsy Kings, smoking film noir actresses and electronic music from the beginning of the 21st century, with lyrics in English, Spanish and French.

Doo Uap, Doo Uap, Doo Uap (No. 3 in Italy) is the single for Friday but, as we started the week, we get stuck with La Maison, to go through the rooms that were closed during the day, the corridors that were dark and, now are full of light at night. We can also, in a subtle way, after opening the relaxing red wine, travel One Thousand and One Nights  with Une Histoire D'Amour or Mille et Une Nui Des Desires, which reminds us of the journeys home, in student times, after we opened our hearts through the cold darkness, under a dimly lit street lamp, on a gray day, when we said:

- Je t'aime!

The Cardigans - Long Gone Before Daylight (Original Pictures)

Through the half-deserted streets, with some cold mixed with a good dose of optimism, we walk home with The Cardigans and Long Gone Before Daylight reissued in a well-protected bag (one of those impulsive purchases that make perfect sense). We don't want one of the best albums ever to experience the joy of being touched by the turntable's needle.

Long Gone Before Daylight (the platinum No. 1 in Sweden) arrived here full of memories of finished, unfinished stories and others that were  just imagination. As we look directly at the cover, we feel that we are surrounded by friends in the warmth of a night of philosophical conversations and well-defined opinions, at Museu d'Avó, amidst the dim light of candles, tapas and glasses of red wine that never stop coming to the table under a chandelier.

Communication opens the discussion, right after the liquid has slipped into a glass, and in 2021 as in 2003, it continues to provide numerous questions about what it means to be in communication with another person. Between real and virtual calls, in which we are busy or absent, we connect and disconnect our calls and we want to make sure that we don't waste time in times of fast connections. But, if we think about it, we may not have learned how to wait, such as when we used to connected our 56Kb modem, we lost the connection and tried, incessantly, to communicate again.

The second glass of wine brings the warlike metaphors that Love is used to. In You're The Storm we are a country that seeks to be conquered, that seeks to be happy but whose history is made up of long and tortuous wars. Despite this, we believe that it is this story that leads to the conquest of borders that become blurred when we fall in love, forming a unique, not perfect, but happy, territory.

With a double edition on 180 gram vinyl, we open the second bottle to place the second disc after having seen the pictures of the quintet in large format. Following a brief silence, For What It's Worth irresistibly reminds us of a spring morning, we feel a hopeless hope, but one that makes us smile. We ended with 3:45 am No sleep and the third bottle, without the conversation between the two having lost any meaning. It seems that, despite all these distractions, we can communicate better than ever.

Long Gone Before Daylight will continue, into the night ... with the message of the 4th album of these nice Swedes, who brought us, over several years, pop hits in dramatic films such as Lovefool, crazy driving in My Favorite Game and collaborations as Burning Down the House with Tom Jones, and we talked about in a time when this blog was still a child (remember?).

Foundations: amor e(m) confinamento ..

by perplex3r, em 24.02.21

You said I must eat so many lemons,
'cause I am so bitter.
I said "i'd rather be with your friends mate,
'cause they are much fitter"

Made of Bricks (UK nº1)? Talvez ...

This ... is what love is all about!

English/Inglês

Kate Nash's Foundations has never made more sense than now ... not even when dating during that age of innocence or even during our famous twenties when, for us, the world was an endless list of possibilities, gone fading over time.

We are now in that moment when our love was found and, with whom we have to share all those cute things that, in the beginning, we thought would be so characteristic and that we would not exchange them for anything ... until today! We can say, I love you the way you are, because I see you at the end of the day and the longing gets tighter; but now, we would like to say I love you the way you are, but if you change this little thing, I will like you even more. Examples? How about washing the dishes? Stop eating and making crumbs when I'm on a video call, or maybe stop listening to that song once and for all? We are entering a collapse in which love and a hut may not be enough, in which we seek those childish ironies that, maliciously, can give us some joy / sadness for brief moments during the week.

This single, which reached the UK's Top 10, in a particularly special year in music (2007), among singers known for MySpace and Youtube and a few mp3s spread across peer to peer programs made us wonder if our hearts were destined for what we had next to us. Still, it brought up those feelings of revolt and shame, with a touch of irony in unthinkable acts. A few years later, Kate Nash sweetly raises the question of whether or not we can forget the details of what life is made of. Is that why this album was called Made of Bricks (UK # 1)? Maybe ...

What is certain is that this house, today, was built by two and cannot, in some way, be overthrown by that desire to leave you in the room with the window open for you to learn the lesson of not to drink so much Casal Garcia on a Wednesday.  Or, not having a dinner ready on time simply because you felt like watching another episode of that absurd series on Netflix about sex that we can't have, since we have a lot of people around us.

After all, the week is almost over and, on Friday, we will forget these ridiculous details and remember how happy this love by our side makes us (even without having lifted the toilet lid for 4 days or having soiled the floor with all that vegetarian food you decided to make after watching a program on  24 Hour Kitchen).

This ... is what love is all about!
