Quando não pudemos ir até à disco, o nosso santuário de sexta-feira à noite, ela vem até nós, cheia de bolas de cristal, correrias desenfreadas, sorrisos, boa disposição e música para nos fazer cantarolar. 

Esta premissa levou Sophie Ellis-Bextor, durante o primeiro confinamento, a abrir a Kitchen Disco, religiosamente, todas as sextas. Estávamos perante um momento descontraído cheio de músicas originais e alguns covers, em que a família participava nos directos do Instagram ... tal sucesso, conduziu a esta edição especial de Songs From The Kitchen Disco, uma espécie de best of da sua longa carreira que, após a sua passagem pela banda indie The Audience, a música de dança lhe deu o verdadeiro valor quando assinou Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) com dj Spiller e levou o single a número 1 no Reino Unido.

Na cozinha, talvez, seja o local do início da nossa sexta-feira, quando deixamos o nosso computador a despedir-se da semana na sala, abrimos a nossa primeira garrafa e nos mimamos com uma entrega da Uber Eats. Vamos buscar a lâmpada colorida que comprámos para a passagem d'ano, colocamos a agulha no disco azul e o volume no máximo. Take Me Home torna-se descontextualizado, dado este distânciamento social que temos que seguir, mas revela aqueles namoricos de fim de semana durante adolescência, tal como Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) com os Freemasons. Crying At The Discotheque, vai trazer recordações e memórias inesquecíveis que queremos tanto repetir depois de uma viagem por 20 temas que vão desde a música house, dance, pop e chegam aos sons kitsch dos anos 80.

Até colocar-mos o Lado D desta longa compilação, enchemos a sala de cores, de video chamadas com amigos e abrimos a nossa ______ (preencher com um número) garrafa. Take me (out of) home .....mas até lá, encontramo-nos na pista de dança que fica entre a mesa de jantar e aquele móvel que não conseguimos trocar a tempo no Ikea. Será que iremos ter Murder On The Dancefloor com aquele dedo do pé? Vamos ver ...

When we were unable to go to the disco, our Friday night sanctuary, it comes to us, full of crystal balls, runaways, smiles, good mood and music to make us sing along.

This premise led Sophie Ellis-Bextor, during the first confinement, to open the Kitchen Disco, religiously, every Friday. We were facing a relaxed moment full of original songs and some covers, in which the family participated in the Instagram stories ... such success, led to this special edition of Songs From The Kitchen Disco, a kind of best of her long career that, after her stint with the indie band The Audience, dance music gave her true value when she signed Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) with dj Spiller and took the single to number 1 in the UK. 

The kitchen is, perhaps, where we start our Friday, when we leave our computer saying goodbye to the week in the living room, we open our first bottle and treat ourselves with a delivery from Uber Eats. Let's get the colored lamp that we bought for New Year's, put the needle on the blue disk and the volume at its maximum. Take Me Home becomes out of context, given this social distance that we have to follow, but it reveals those weekend flirtations during adolescence, such as Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) with the Freemasons. Crying At The Discotheque, will bring unforgettable memories and memories that we want to repeat after a trip through 20 songs that range from house music, dance, pop and reach the kitsch sounds of the 80s. 

Until we put Side D of this long compilation, we fill the room with colors, with video calls with friends and opened our ______ (fill with a number) bottle. Take me (out of) home ..... but until then, we find ourselves on the dance floor between the dining table and that piece of furniture that we were unable to change in time at Ikea. Will we have Murder On The Dancefloor with that toe? We will find out ...

Em 2021, após momentos de alguma energia bem negativa, reparamos que não somos aqueles que éramos em 2007, mas mantemos toda a nossa originalidade, com um travo bem mais clássico, qual vinho do Porto, qual quê? Mas será mudámos realmente? 

(Provavelmente,) NÃO! E ainda bem... não temos que, agora, ter medo da nossa originalidade e do que somos, pensamos, cremos e gostamos. Assim, Let Me Reintroduce Myself, em estilo que combina reggae, ska, pop é um sing-a-long que remete a tempos de pôr do sol, uma caipirinha e uma areia bem branca. Para além disso, prova que quando avançámos pelos anos da nossa vida,  reparamos que cada momento de lá atrás, ficou presente no nosso futuro (seremos sempre uns 90's kid?). Tal como Gwen Stefany, que dispensa apresentações, também nós passámos por momentos musicais apaixonantes bem diferentes, mas que nos fazem aquilo que somos hoje, pois tivémos aquelas histórias tristes de Cool e já dançámos até de manhã bem mais ricos do que estamos hoje ...

Em suma, o single que chegou ao #17 no Billboard US Digital Sales, apenas serve de aperitivo ao próximo álbum desta que vem, desde 1996, dizendo que era apenas uma menina (I'm Just A Girl), mas que soube, muito bem, como  transformar o mundo, quando se tornou a lenda urbana de Hollaback Girl.

In 2021, after moments of some very negative energy, we noticed that we are not the ones we were in 2007, but we keep all our originality, with a much more classic taste, Port Wine, or what? But did we really change?

(Probably) NOT! And thankfully ... now, we don't have to be afraid of our originality and what we are, think, believe and love. Thus, Let Me Reintroduce Myself, in a style that combines reggae, ska, pop is a sing-a-long that refers to times of sunset, a caipirinha and very white sand. Furthermore, it proves that when we went through the years of our life, we noticed that every moment from there, was present in our future (will we always be some 90's kid?). Like Gwen Stefany, who needs no introduction, we also had very different passionate musical moments, but they make us what we are today, because we had those sad stories from Cool and we danced until the morning much richer than we are today ...

In short, the single that reached #17 on the Billboard US Digital Sales, only serves as an aperitif to the next album of this girl, who since 1996 has been saying that she is just a girl (I'm Just A Girl), but that she knew, very well, how to transform the world, when became the urban legend of Hollaback Girl.
