(vinyl) sounds ... a nossa kitchen disco!

Songs From The Kitchen Disco

Vamos ver ...

Happy Friday!

English/Inglês

When we were unable to go to the disco, our Friday night sanctuary, it comes to us, full of crystal balls, runaways, smiles, good mood and music to make us sing along.

This premise led Sophie Ellis-Bextor, during the first confinement, to open the Kitchen Disco, religiously, every Friday. We were facing a relaxed moment full of original songs and some covers, in which the family participated in the Instagram stories ... such success, led to this special edition of Songs From The Kitchen Disco, a kind of best of her long career that, after her stint with the indie band The Audience, dance music gave her true value when she signed Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) with dj Spiller and took the single to number 1 in the UK.

The kitchen is, perhaps, where we start our Friday, when we leave our computer saying goodbye to the week in the living room, we open our first bottle and treat ourselves with a delivery from Uber Eats. Let's get the colored lamp that we bought for New Year's, put the needle on the blue disk and the volume at its maximum. Take Me Home becomes out of context, given this social distance that we have to follow, but it reveals those weekend flirtations during adolescence, such as Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) with the Freemasons. Crying At The Discotheque, will bring unforgettable memories and memories that we want to repeat after a trip through 20 songs that range from house music, dance, pop and reach the kitsch sounds of the 80s.

Until we put Side D of this long compilation, we fill the room with colors, with video calls with friends and opened our ______ (fill with a number) bottle. Take me (out of) home ..... but until then, we find ourselves on the dance floor between the dining table and that piece of furniture that we were unable to change in time at Ikea. Will we have Murder On The Dancefloor with that toe? We will find out ...

Happy Friday!

lock:down .... (com) um lindo soulstice!

Sousltice

I've been losing leaving
Fooling, deceiving
I've been stealing, hiding
Calling, crying

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Que o diabo venha e escolha ....

English/ Inglês

Confined in a small space that are the square meters of our house, which cannot contain all our joys, sorrows, experiences, disappointments and experiences without memory, we found the first song on the Soulstice remix album, Mixed Illusions.

Illusion was the title of the first album, as was the reality that we felt was eternal until so recently, and that needed a new, more cheerful outfit, farther from downtempo and trip hop, that we thought life would bring us until ... 2020. Yes, the passionate love affairs we knew each weekend, each day when we grouped in a circle after a gin and a discount of academic beer were pure illusions or heard the sound of "log on" on the extinct MSN Messenger.

Mixed Illusions, like our days today, bring joys, ups and downs filled with intermittent sounds that travel and deepen the memories of daily synthesizers that we hear early in the morning. Lockdown opens, without hesitation, what the initial album did not achieve and transposed us to an unparalleled journey with the voice of Gina Rene (A Thousand Years with Julius Papp), which through Falling leaves us melancholy, thoughtful and anxious. If our lives had to be remixed with mixers in mp3 and dubious pen drives, why do we doubt? Probably, a remix album does not bring anything new, many of us think, which is not the case, since Miguel Migs, and Filla Brazillia manage to transform the melodies into new experiences and journeys, never heard and experienced or adequate to one or another situation in our life, whether happy or sad:

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Take your pick ....

go outside and BREATHE

by perplex3r, em 10.05.17

I brought you something close to me
Left for something you see though your head
You haunt my dreams / There's nothing to do but believe
Just Believe / Just Breathe

English/ Inglês
Breathe from the French band  Télépopmusik is probably the most suitable chillout song  for afternoons in the pool, with lots of sun and heat, with mixed and colourful drinks and a sense of eternal holidays, besides the video by Jordan Scott (daughter of Ridley Scott) fosters this idea . We were in the year 2001 when the album Genetic World was released and in 2002 when a calm voice of Angela McCluskey broke the radios with this single, no need to explain why it reached to the UK Singles Charts, the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart and was nominated for a Grammy.
In 2017 new remixes appear that will totally deconstruct the original version, offering a journey that explores the experimental, chillout and downtempo. Parisian Kartell signs two remixes, slow (video) and club remix, managing to maintain an original relaxing sensation with the first mix, and turning the track into a deep house anthem with the second one. Opposed to them we have remixes by Cézaire and Duñe and Katuchat that are almost like an excess of electronic experimentalism that surrounds us and are adapted to alternative places/clubs.
Thus, we can breathe a little of several  electronic worlds through a peculiar EP, as  life needs  to be remixed from time to time, with disconnected sounds, coming from more or less positive experiences, above all, from unique ones. In short, it is a bit this that these remixes lead us to think and, above all, feel, because if there are good things in our past, why not give them a new memory while maintaining the original feeling?

is this the sound of fashion?

by perplex3r, em 26.03.17

Sente o teu corpo // Sente a paixão // Fashion!
(Feel your body // Feel the Passion // Fashion)

English / Inglês
Bags, trousers, dresses, coats, cameras …… a wide range of objects and colors that run the social networks over the last few days due to the Portugal Fashion shows. If on the catwalks you have seen that beautiful model wearing the latest fashion trends, we have here then the soundtrack to end this weekend. This track, already considered a classic, could have been featured on a #throwbackthursday post but this event could not pass unnoticed. If the Portugal Fashion show attracts all the attention on what is the best in the world of fashion in the country, we can also consider that in musical terms we also launch trends, we attract attentions throughout the world and, in addition, everything with great quality and style. The proof of that is in The Sound Of Fashion, one of the three singles from Delicado, the project of Luís Leite and Alex Santos, which was on heavy rotation on radios and discos, with the vocals of Kátia B, Cristina Martins and Nicinha. Edited with a total of 5 remixes, between the original, a more chillout version, and the others more club friendly, we have here the Radio Edit of the Original version so that you can spend the last bits of energy you might have on a Sunday afternoon (yes, Saturday nights are (too) long)! Finally, there is only one question, for when a Portugal Music Week(end)?
