This one goes out ... to the One I Love!

by perplex3r, em 25.07.08

Out To The One I Love!

(English/Inglês)
This One Goes Out To The One I Love from the German band Jam & Spoon begin the perfect electronic melody with the voice of the british singer Plavka, bringing back the story of those looks in this summer romance.

Find Me (Odyssey To Anyoona) (taken from the album Tripomatic Fairytales 2001)  proved that electronic music can contain the best of what one can feel and live, and is also able to express our inner feelings. In this way, Find Me is perfectly able to be a small part of our love story, as we all have, at least once, lost our hearts back at the Fairytale Road, and wanted it back afterwards…but there were some situations in which we had to decide…nothing is easy! That is the reason why we have here an Odyssey, a huge quest.
To sum up, and although it might look sad, Find Me is a question of love, of feelings, a melody that makes us think, smile and feel…that’s why this post Goes Out To The One I Love!

Hercules, You Belong to this Love Affair!

by perplex3r, em 21.07.08

(English/Inglês)
Hercules & Love Affair continue influence the dance music scene by searching, once again, inspiration in the so called classic house from the late eighties. You Belong contains samples from the single Good Life by Inner City, and it also seems that it is taken from a Back to Love compilation by Hed Kandi.

In this way, as it is suggested in the video, we have a melody that was taken from the depths that is able to open the dancefloor or, in a different situation help to cool down the moods warmed with black vodka. However, this second single won’t be a hit like Blind, although it has very interesting musical qualities with this mixture of classic house, disco and Nomi with Anthony Hegarty’s voice.
Therefore, one can conclude that You Belong belongs to 2008 even when the classic house seems to be located a decade away from now.

by perplex3r, em 19.07.08

Who's That Girl Robyn?

by perplex3r, em 14.04.08

(English/Inglês)

Annie Lennox and Madonna have already asked in 80’s the question but it appears that in the new century it has no answer.  Robyn, the ex Swedish pop princess and now a lady in the electronica, continues with the question Who’s That Girl (?) and, in the fabulous and sensual video, she presents a diversity of possibilities, from the madam in the kitchen to the actress, with images that are far away from her personal style. In a song inspired by the retro melodies, showing some similarities with Human League, we are in front of catchy and irreverent lyrics (Let’s Play a Game that You Never Tried/You be the Girl and I’ll be the Guy) and in front of an original sound for 2008.
In that way, without any doubt, this single will reach the top of the charts as it has the perfect melody for our mp3 players and for the airplay and, with remixes from Drop The Lime, Seamus Haji and  Rex The Dog, the incredulous and the electronica lovers will be forced to dance to it.
However, and perhaps the most important thing it is not where you are going to listen to Who’s That Girl but the fact that, once again, Robyn shows what a musician is able to do when takes the course of his career in his own hands and does not have the pressure of the music industry (forcing) to choose a musical path.
Therefore, to the question Who’s That (sexy & amazing)Girl (?) one can answer Robyn, the blond femme fatale from Scandinavia.

Toca Me ... that's a Miracle!

by perplex3r, em 01.04.08

(English/Inglês)

We all need a miracle once in a lifetime, and a miracle can also be the fact that Fragma’s Toca’s Miracle is for the 3rd time popular worldwide, reaching nº1 in the UK Upfront Club Charts, nº1 in the Brazil Dance Charts and nº2 in the European Dancefloor Charts. Initially the 1998 single Toca Me reached nº11 and was followed by the bootleg that mixed Toca Me with I Need A Miracle from Coco, but if the 2000 release wasn’t suitable for the best clubs, the 2008 remixes promise to do the opposite (release date: 31st March)
Showing how the house beats evolved since Toca’s Miracle got into the nº1 position in the UK Singles Charts, Inpetto transformed Toca Me by giving it a touch of class, a more relaxing feeling and a perfect sound for our ears, though he kept the soft sound from the first release. However, the remixed version that was chosen to represent it, and of course sell, still keeps the I need a Miracle/It’s more Physical What I Need (as if no one could ever guess that with the video), but if you manage to put your hand on the version without the sing-along, you will feel great in these longer and sunny days almost calling for Summer.
To sum up, prefer Toca Me (it tastes so good saying it) to Toca’s Miracle, because in Portuguese Toca Me (Touch Me) can lead to something and miracles, well, we are all still waiting for them!
