#throwbackthursday at TOM'S DINER

Afternoons spent at the cafés studying, watching the time go by, reading or listening to music. In those lonely moments, we saw the tables around us, lit a cigarette, and felt the first taste of coffee. We have our desk with our mobile phones, a book and the headphones that we are about to use ... however, some couples enter, some happy, others abandoned to their long-term relationship. The old man writes in his tablet some work e-mails, two guys wearing black suits discuss the news, while the 20-year-old girl speaks very loudly on the  phone ... therefore we have in a single place, a world of experiences, hearts, loves and lives.
It is in this blend of lives intertwined in a cafe that lies the beauty of simplicity in the lyrics of Tom's Diner that we can nicely replace Tom to whatever we go everyday to have our breakfast. Originally released by Suzanne Vega in 1982 it is the opening theme of the album Solitude Standing (1987), which included the acclaimed single, although with a very sad story, Luka. Curious fact about Tom's Diner is that it was remixed in its own style by the British duo DNA who released  the single without Vega's permission, as it was common in the late 1980s, as it was quite common to use samples without the authour's permission, in order to offer well-known songs , but more appropriate for the culture of the club that has started, for example Black Box with Ride on Time, who sampled Lolleatta's Holloway voice. After getting into an agreement, and with Vega's consent, the single arrives at number 2 of the UK Singles Chart, having already been used by Giorgio Moroder with Britney Spears, Timbaland and even the singer r'n'b Aaliyah with Hot Like Fire and by the Portuguese David Carreira and Bingo Players on  Spinnin 'Records.
To sum up, we can observe and learn from others around at ______ (fill in with your favorite place). Maybe we are about ot be inspired by the attitudes of others or continue to believe that we are on the right path.

WHAT IS LOVE ... the eternal question!

by perplex3r, em 05.04.17

What is Love is probably the question that goes through several pages of our books, sometimes in short or long chapters, sometimes very happy or sad ... after all, so many years later, we can still and always (?) question what love is, can't we? From the moments when we fell in love and stole a kiss for the first time in the kindergarten, not knowing very well what those butterflies in the belly meant to the the time, years later, when they join the admiration, the desire of the body, the conception of a relationship (whatever it may be).
In 1993, in the eurodance version by Haddaway we had the chance to ask with some joy but now Lost Frequencies revisits the theme in a much more introspective way, making the single from the album Less is More tuned for little warmer afternoons when we travel, alone, through the several kilometers of the walkways on the beaches of Gaia and we, once in a while, see joyful, tired and smiling faces. There are also remixes of Demitri Vegas and Like Mike, which are just suitable for EDM parties, by Rose (added to the Spotify playlist) and Zonderling in which both add a feeling much closer to classic house, making these philosophical questions become much more enjoyable with a chilled Martini Bianco and friends around us.
The video shows the love we have for sports and those who are by our side whenever something goes wrong and that lead us, in a way, to find some possible answers to this question. So, 23 years after the release of the first version, even with another electronic and danceable mixture, we are still shuffled with all the paths that this question takes us ... So, we only have to go one by one with this song, in search of a(ny) conclusion!

have fun with the Ironik Tiny Dancer!

by perplex3r, em 19.05.09

Libidinoso?
A explicação está no vídeo!

(English/Inglês)
Sometimes, life shouldn’t be perfect or stylish. Thus, we can always listen, say and wear what we want and put everything and everyone in second place. As far music is concerned, the same thing is applied! Elton John, the pop Sir of the last decades, allowed Tiny Dancer to be introduced to new generations by Ironik and Chipmunk. However, the original 2009 version is capable of filling a colorful high school party, while the remix by D’Cruz and Paul Emanuel (who already remixed Late Night Alumni ) have the decency of cheering up those who feel depressed.
For that reason, and only because of that, the new Tiny Dancer is featured here…as we are all counting down the days for the weekend we all need a funny and (a little bit) libidinous sing-a-long! Libidinous? The explanation is in the video!

Fall In Love ... Right In The Night!

by perplex3r, em 14.07.08

Forget all the prejudices and all the things you remember about the Danish blond girl, including the eurotrash Saturday Night (and of course, do not crucify me for this post!).
Right In The Night (Fall In Love With Music) is a dance classic in the voice of the fantastic British singer Plavka and produced by the well known German duo Jam & Spoon in 1994, and got into the sales charts all around Europe.
In 2008 and for the first time I have to say, Whigfield obtained some credibility offering the fabulous cover of Right In The Night in an electronica sound, more deep and suitable for every club, in a 7 mix package. One should pay attention to the album version, which could be included in chillout compilations and, of course, the video version remixed Favretto and Battini and the F & A remixes.
To sum up, forget all the Dabba Da Dam and all dance moves from the 94 Summer and watch the fabulous video that comes along with the single release….perhaps it’s another melody to listen to during the sunset.
