cry me a river ... não quero saber!

Cry me a River

to tell a moaning person to shut up and that you dont care.

When the week is still in the middle, as well as those badly organized papers on the table, with all the post its full of notes, diaries full of risks and badly drawn words, it is not possible, on a beautiful spring day of sun and heat, spoiling the joy we feel with meaningless things.

Cried Me a River, despite written in the past, is a very present feeling with melodious lyrics that takes us to fields where we see flowers of hope blooming. We shouldn't always care about everything they tell us, we shouldn't even feel pain from those who don't want to be helped or even from those who use a certain sensual blackmail to grab our gaze and make us stop seeing things.

Jersey St, in this vocal house tale, reaches that maturity that, for many, takes years to develop, but which is perfectly attainable with our entire life story. Like life, there are two editions in this 12" , the vocal house version with the story well told in front of us and the dub version, which is nothing more than an instrumental version for us to write moments of our history on a garden bench or on a walk by the sea ...

Or, right now, on the balcony with fresh can of Super Bock under the silence of the night!

lock:down .... (com) um lindo soulstice!

Sousltice

I've been losing leaving
Fooling, deceiving
I've been stealing, hiding
Calling, crying

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Que o diabo venha e escolha ....

English/ Inglês

Confined in a small space that are the square meters of our house, which cannot contain all our joys, sorrows, experiences, disappointments and experiences without memory, we found the first song on the Soulstice remix album, Mixed Illusions.

Illusion was the title of the first album, as was the reality that we felt was eternal until so recently, and that needed a new, more cheerful outfit, farther from downtempo and trip hop, that we thought life would bring us until ... 2020. Yes, the passionate love affairs we knew each weekend, each day when we grouped in a circle after a gin and a discount of academic beer were pure illusions or heard the sound of "log on" on the extinct MSN Messenger.

Mixed Illusions, like our days today, bring joys, ups and downs filled with intermittent sounds that travel and deepen the memories of daily synthesizers that we hear early in the morning. Lockdown opens, without hesitation, what the initial album did not achieve and transposed us to an unparalleled journey with the voice of Gina Rene (A Thousand Years with Julius Papp), which through Falling leaves us melancholy, thoughtful and anxious. If our lives had to be remixed with mixers in mp3 and dubious pen drives, why do we doubt? Probably, a remix album does not bring anything new, many of us think, which is not the case, since Miguel Migs, and Filla Brazillia manage to transform the melodies into new experiences and journeys, never heard and experienced or adequate to one or another situation in our life, whether happy or sad:

I've been alone, I'd rather be in love

Take your pick ....

mix it ... vá lá, é sexta!

not everybody understands house music

Exemplos?

Now let me see you work (esse corpinho que esteve sentado o dia todo!)
Celeda, Undergound (Addictive Trip Mix)

Inglês/English

A heavy week of work, in which life only passes in front of a screen that changes images between Teams, Google and Sapo accounts. A work week in which passwords are mixed, images are merged into a mixture of files and words no longer make sense in the late afternoon ... so conversations at 8 pm make no sense. And on a Friday, could they be necessary? It doesn't look like they are!

On one of the less joyful days, we rediscovered the version of a very old CD-R with the sound from a Lisbon radio which was becoming known in Porto. Perhaps this is why this week's sound had a touch of revival, among clubs such as SoundPlanet, Rocks or even, 8 Graus Oeste(1) in Portuguese Venice(2) and the extinct Elektro Parade in Porto. It will be this scenario that opens a 21-year-old compilation but that contains the best (or not) made in a year of music ready to bump the dancefloors, reach the sales charts and become classics. Examples? There are a lot  ... Rui da Silva, with Touch me (No. 1 in the UK), Celeda with the repetitive and addictive sound of Underground, Deep Dish and Everything but the Girl, Da Hool and Funkstar Deluxe with Grace Jones and Barry White....

We don't need many explanations, because a Friday with the theme "Do you remember?",  just needs a good speaker in highest volume acceptable, to believe that, soon, an extended version of our favorite hit will be ready to warm up a dancefloor that has been waiting for us for a year ... eagerly! NOw, make room in your living room and ...

Now let me see you work (that body that spent the whole sitting on the sofa)
Celeda, Undergound (Addictive Trip Mix)

(Translations notes: 1 SoundPlanet, Rocks and 8 Graus Oeste were clubs in Porto and Aveiro. 2 Portuguese Venice -  nickname given to the city of Aveiro due to its cannals)

Dedicado a / Dedicated to: Mónica, David, Gaby, Sara e Anabela  (for all the crazy nights at these clubs and parties ... will we have more, soon? I do believe so!)

love and OTHER GIRL(s)

by perplex3r, em 03.05.17

English/Inglês
When we count the days, the hours, the weeks and gather everything and we get years and the years of relationships. Some are just small paragraphs of handwritten pages, others turn into little newspaper pamphlets, and for better or for worse, some are books with pages and pages of events, full of tears, of hugs, some selfishness. Nothing is easy when it is over, but this experience may well be enriching, building a new personality and getting the best the other has offered us, but above all, growing up without ever ceasing to be ourselves.
Other Girl by Morgan Page with Rayla portrays the end of a relationship, in which one is not able to bet on sincerity, to come to the moment of saying "I do not love you anymore" and not because we can not say (just) due to cowardice, but because, secretly, we have started writing lines of stories with another person. To discover this, in this way, we come up with sentences like "you are not what I thought you were", and maybe he/she wasn’t, since the other has to be himself, since day one, and we should not (even though it is difficult) imagine things as we want them to be. In the end, the time building castles and princes and princesses should already be gone.
So, more than being a sad song, Other Girl becomes a positive experience, a breakup song which opens our eyes, free us from everything that is not positive and makes us live a life with a cheerful smile. You are not more or less than the other girl, you are just you and, simply, you wouldn’t go anywhere if you would continue to be in this story, you would become a character on a long soap opera.  Therefore it is the best to love the extended version of the song, enjoy the vocals of the beautiful Rayla and the production of this producer who has already won two grammies and has already remixed Katy Perry and The Temper Trap, for example.

IN THIS GAME of love!

by perplex3r, em 17.04.17

English / Inglês
In this game that is life, with someone we love, not only for passion, but also in relationships of friendship, we think that we bet on people, that we bet what we are, often, like in a slot machines game, we bet little, hopping that we will make millions. After all, there is a certain nervousness that makes us believe in this probability.
That is exactly what happened to Fritzt Kalkbrenner, achieved a unique feat, along with his brother Paul Kalkbrener. Both had their first breakthrough with the song included in the Berlin Calling film called Sky & Sand (included in the Blog Playlist) which was 129 weeks within the Germany singles charts. As all the paths we have to follow daily, after this success, the two followed different artistic directions, both within the electronic genre.
Fritz has been offering some electronic joys since his first album Here Today Gone Tomorrow (2010), providing warmer, soulful melodies and full of electro beats, from which the single In this Game questions us on which extent are we ready to change who we are in this game that a relationship is. Sometimes in the ups and downs of saturated relationships the sentence Desire to find a chance to change who we’ve become is more than perfect, but wishing is not enough and we all know that. This is where the refrain comes in, which picks up any player who wins, loses, runs and bleeds, which is not more than telling us that success depends on what you want to achieve, you do not need to play (but you will not win either anything!).
This is then the theme for Monday's page, coming from the cold lands of Germany, but that is going to fit in your hot, sunny and captivating days.
