The Rhythm Of The Night.

On May 13, in Portugal, while some longed for the Eurovision Song Contest, were feeling nervous about football matches and were waiting for the Pope's message in Fatima,in Madrid, more than 16,000 pilgrims were traveling through time.
At 6pm the doors of the arena opened for the deejays Jumper Brothers to set the tone for more than 6 hours of partying with Show Me Love (Robin S), Free (Ultra Naté), Beachball (Nalin & Kane) culminating with the countdown to the beginning of Love The 90s with the Spanish OBK. There could not be a time tunnel as perfect as this, where we had the opportunity to enter the Guinness Book of Records with Whigfield's Saturday Night, in a place where everyone danced the typical choreography of the summer of '94. Jenny Berggren, Ace Of Base, showed us, with Beautiful Life, that over 20 years later life continues to be beautiful and joyful and that everyone finally understood the story of All That She Wants and saw The Sign, which explained the more 23 million albums sold from the multi-platinum album Happy Nation in 93/94 (also in the Guinness Book Of Records).
Between europop and eurodance, when we heard Diggy Boog Diggy Diggy Boom Diggy Bang we felt we were listening to the compilation DanceMania, in which Ice Mc shone with his typical Italo-disco sound. Australian Tina Cousins brought back memories with Pray and Mysterious Times, her great collaboration with German Sash !, and the Brazilian Corona starred in one of the funniest moments when she admitted to be speaking "portuñol" (mixture of portuguese and spanish), mixing her music with Boom Boom Boom of Outhere Brothers and to have one of the biggest interactions with the audience with the sound of The Rhythm Of The Night. Between the performances of the guest groups, there was time for the duo of deejays, with the help of fire, lasers, colorful screens and rain of confetti, to play  songs that filled the dance floors during the decade with Haddaway (What Is Love ), Gala (Let a Boy Cry), Faithless (Insomnia) and Kadoc (The Night Train), pick up Nirvana and Bon Jovi from the playlist and pay homage to Robert Miles, making it a non-stop party! Finally, the eurodance / euro rap duos Snap! made many feet jump with Penny Ford's powerful voice in The Power and with the classic Rhythm Is a Dancer, in addition to rapper Ya Kid K, Technotronic's original voice that set the crowd singing all in one voice Pump Up The Jam and the Dutch 2 Unlimited who showed that the 90's generation has no limit to the joy they were feeling while traveling listening to No Limit and Twilight Zone.
In short, if you ask if it is worth this trip, we conclude with a big smile that YES! This Time Machine is able to put an entire generation nostalgic about a recent decade, in which with so much evolution, still knows the connection between a pencil and a cassette, remembers what it was to make a mixtape with love and, above all, knows has paved the way for a culture of pop and dance music that is now felt all over the world. What do we do now? We watch the best moments and count the days that are missing for the next trips! More videos on Youtube, Sapo Videos and photos on Facebook and Instagram of the blog!

love the 90s - Back To Music,Love & Lifestyle

Aliás, é Saturday Night and not one minute we can lose (Whigfield, Saturday Night,1994).
Are you ready for this? (2Unlimited, Are You Ready For This,1992)

Friday ... almost 24 hours before the biggest party of the 90s of the Iberian Peninsula - Love the 90s Madrid. There is still not much to say, we are anxious because we know we will be with more than 16 thousand people traveling through time. Pure moments of nostalgia are emerging, just like the ones in this video, so we already have the camera with the film prepared, the walkmans, the cassettes, the torned jeans, the neons and the vinyl - and the bag is almost ready! We already had everything outlined when we talked about this event in this blog on March 23 and, therefore, we took the dust out of the vinyl and the cassettes so that we can remember the analogical technology of that time and the lyrics.
Tomorrow, May 13, if Eurovision is too modern and the Pope's visit too religious for you, travel through the 90's with Back To Music, Love & Lifestyle live through Instagram and Facebook because we promise to cover the event step-by-step, music for the generation of the first GameBoys and high school memories. After all, it’s Saturday Night and not one minute we can lose (Whigfield, Saturday Night,1994)

Hoje arrumamos o quarto e retiramos aquela caixa escondida ...

Viaja no tempo ... Carrega Play!

Today we tidy the room and take out that hidden box ... we find out (again) that we can almost tune in to 107.2 aka Rádio Cidade (later Cidade FM) and listen to music on a chromium tape. This was the radio station that accompanied Portuguese teenagers in the 1990s, with unimaginable jingles and diversified and entertaining programs. After all, how many of you were waiting but ready to record them?

Electricidade was one of those programs we listened religiously, waiting for the dance songs that were in the International Charts and that would brighten up our afternoon. In fact, the program was so famous that it had its first compilation in 94 (on CD, Cassette and Vinyl) to reach the first place of the Sales Charts in Portugal, and the following ones were released until 2004. At the right time, we would listen to the electric ray and the famous "Ahhh Electricidade" and we knew we were going to listen to Rhythm Of The Night (Corona), Saturday Night (Whigfield), Luv 4 Luv (Robin S) or Let The Beat Control Your Body (2 Unlimited) ... music quality aside, as it is irrelevant. In fact, the good times that these compilations have brought in garage balls and school parties are, by themselves, memories to keep and we are going to revive in Love The 90s in May.
You will probably sneeze with the dust that this post brings and see that the (New) Spelling Agreement got really nervous .... but after all, is it not a #throwbackthursday?
Travel in time ... Press Play!
(Translation note: Electricidade now written as Eletricidade)

i LOVE the 90s 2017!

by perplex3r, em 27.03.17

We´re travelling in time! (Ace Of Base, Happy Nation)
Wanna join?

I Love The 90s, one of the biggest parties in Europe, arrives for the first time in the city of Madrid. At a time when revivalism is on the rise, we have the opportunity to sing the pop and eurodance hits heavy played on  the radios during that decade. There will be times for the typical choreographies from that time, with Whigfield (Saturday Night) and Snap! (The Power) as well as exciting choruses like All That She Wants or The Sign from the friendly Swedes Ace Of Base, represented by Jenny Berggren, the quartet whose Happy Nation was the biggest selling debut album ever. It is true that there is no limit to the memories that will occur when the 2Unlimited shows up, or even Technotronic with that track that made dance music commercially appealing, we are talking, of course, about Pump Up The Jam. Alongside these names, we also have the Brazilian Olga de Souza with the Italian project Corona (The Rhythm of the Night), Tina Cousins (Pray) and other groups more directed to the Spanish market. If, by any chance, you cannot (re) live these moments on May 13th, do not despair! There are two more versions of the concert in Barcelona (July 7th) and Valencia (June 3rd), although in the latter the lineup is a bit different, and include Gala (Freed from Desire), Vengaboys (Boom, Boom, Boom) and C + C Music Factory (Everybody Dance Now).

We cannot talk about the most glamorous party or even question the quality of the songs. However, these sing-along tracks have always been with us and there is nothing like remembering that period of cassettes and CDs, which were broadcast on school radio or at high school parties. We will certainly smile, feel homesick and (re) read the chapter (s) of our childhood / adolescence again ... even if it is just for a few hours. Saddly none of these events are going to happen in Portugal but ...
May 13th ... We're travelling in time! (Ace Of Base, Happy Nation)
