(vinyl) sounds ... a nossa kitchen disco!

Songs From The Kitchen Disco

Vamos ver ...

Happy Friday!

English/Inglês

When we were unable to go to the disco, our Friday night sanctuary, it comes to us, full of crystal balls, runaways, smiles, good mood and music to make us sing along.

This premise led Sophie Ellis-Bextor, during the first confinement, to open the Kitchen Disco, religiously, every Friday. We were facing a relaxed moment full of original songs and some covers, in which the family participated in the Instagram stories ... such success, led to this special edition of Songs From The Kitchen Disco, a kind of best of her long career that, after her stint with the indie band The Audience, dance music gave her true value when she signed Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) with dj Spiller and took the single to number 1 in the UK.

The kitchen is, perhaps, where we start our Friday, when we leave our computer saying goodbye to the week in the living room, we open our first bottle and treat ourselves with a delivery from Uber Eats. Let's get the colored lamp that we bought for New Year's, put the needle on the blue disk and the volume at its maximum. Take Me Home becomes out of context, given this social distance that we have to follow, but it reveals those weekend flirtations during adolescence, such as Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer) with the Freemasons. Crying At The Discotheque, will bring unforgettable memories and memories that we want to repeat after a trip through 20 songs that range from house music, dance, pop and reach the kitsch sounds of the 80s.

Until we put Side D of this long compilation, we fill the room with colors, with video calls with friends and opened our ______ (fill with a number) bottle. Take me (out of) home ..... but until then, we find ourselves on the dance floor between the dining table and that piece of furniture that we were unable to change in time at Ikea. Will we have Murder On The Dancefloor with that toe? We will find out ...

Happy Friday!

Torre dos Clérigos, Porto, Portugal http://backtobasic.blogs.sapo.pt

Sleepless gliding
Over the city lights.
Watch us flying
Over the streets tonight.

In the dark Friday night, while a glass of mojito is still halfway full, spring is in the air and we are both Downtown on a balcony. There, in that little space, we feel almost as if we are flying over the trees and the people who walk, busy, on the street in search of a drink or their dreams. We have the city lights and the Clérigos Tower as the perfect setting for me to observe and listen, without interrupting you, mesmerized by your words and the background music, at low volume, is almost like a soundtrack accompanying the stories of the your movie.
4AM is the milestone of this evening! The acoustic version is quite sentimental, while the remix of Adam K & Soha adds to the sweet voice of Becky Williams the necessary and steady beats of deep house, which may well open a dance floor 3 hours earlier. So we prefer the mix of melodies, full of ups and downs that the live version offers. That's what Late Night Alumni and Kaskade bring us. Since 2005, with the album Empty Streets, to today, they offer us songs that incorporate real instruments, house music and soft trance with simple yet sentimental stories. Thus, this is the living proof that dance music is much more than simple stretches of hard beat and it can make us think and dream. So on Sunday morning, when the city is still asleep and we walk down the narrow street that leads us home, we smoke our last cigarette without saying anything. No need, we both know that the first line of our book was written two nights ago when we bit each other's lips at 4 AM.

Same Old Brand New (Heavies)!

by perplex3r, em 12.06.08

In order to tease a little bit, here you have a video of Dream On Dreamer to remember and, thanks to the band, a full concert to amuse yourself before seeing them live…
