Roisin Murphy, Robyn and Moby...Wow!

by perplex3r, em 26.03.08

Roisin Murphy - You Know Me Better

(English/Inglês)
Counting down the days to the official UK release, it is hoped that the new Roisin Murphy enters the Top 40, as it has already reached Top 40 in Bulgaria (nº18) and Poland (38) and on its first day in YouTube had over than 100,000+ views. Back to Music, Love & Lifestyle has already presented the single that results from a collaboration between Roisin and Andy Cato from Groove Armada and it is taken from the fantastic album Overpowered, already reviewed in February. In the video one see Murphy in different parts of a house wearing different clothes, which tries to show what a woman can hide behind doors, but it is not as good as Let Me Know.
Also the new Robyn single Who’s That Girl is about to be released in 14th April in the UK and will include mixes by Seamus Haji, Rex The Dog and Drop The Lime. Who’s That Girl will be the fourth single taken from her self-titled album, like the singles With Every Heartbeat (nº1), Handle Me (nº17) and Be Mine (nº10), and shows that the album does not follow an unique and limited musical style, but mixes and includes different genres, as all the singles are different.
Last but not least, after 2 singles, namely Alice and Disco Lies (with an amazing video), the ninth Moby album will be released in 31st March and shows a different direction from his previous albums, due to the fact one will not find acoustic or chillout tracks like we did previously, as he states that his new album is: :”a lot more dance-oriented and electronic than my last few albums, probably as a result of all of the DJ'ing I've been doing lately" (Wikipedia).
To sum up, after all these great news, one concludes that this will be a very excited end of a month but a hole in the pockets for all music lovers. Meanwhile, while that does not happen, watch the videos and have fun!

Roisin Murphy...there's life after Moloko!

by perplex3r, em 06.02.08

Roisin Murphy - You Know Me Better

(Português/Portuguese )

O grupo de dança eclética chamado Moloko foi, sem qualquer dúvida, uma das melhores exportações das terras verdes Irlandesas e das terras de Sua Majestade, com uma mão cheia de hits, como Sing It Back , The Time Is Now e claro, o clássico Forever More.
Porém "all good things come to an end ” como a menina Furtado afirma, e com toda a razão.

The eclectic electronic group Moloko are, without any doubt, one of the best exports from the green Irish lands and from Her Majesty’s Land, with handful of hits like Sing It Back, The Time Is Now and, of course, the all time favourite Forever More.
However, “all good things come to an end” as Nelly Furtado says, and it is true. Due to the couple’s separation, Moloko ended their work as a group in 2003, after the promotion of the album Statues, being the Best Of released only in 2006. Nevertheless, Roisin Murphy decided to move on (and we lift our hands to God for that!) and released two albums: Ruby Blue (2005) and Overpowered (2007). Although her first work did receive very good reviews, it didn’t make it into the UK Album Charts, being only two singles taken from the album: If We’re In Love and Sow Into You, and a few tracks on Grey’s Anatomy.
However, the winds of change came, as Overpowered shows Roisin’s versatility and creativity, and with help of some great names such as Andy Cato, one of the great minds behind Groove Armada, she entered the UK Album Charts at nº20 and the single Let Me Know got into number 28, accompanied by a great video that reminds her dance moves on Forever More.
For the fact that Overpowered is coherent, full of pretty good surprises throughout the 13 tracks (number 13 as a lucky number!), has a great dance feeling, is well mixed and possesses great lyrics it was nominated for the Irish Music Choice Awards. In addition, this blog gives it 4 happy frogs out of five thinking already on the 3rd single due to be released on March 31st. So, here you have what will we listen to (I hope it gets the attention it deserves), namely You Know Me Better, a single that will include the Andy Cato Alternative Mix, remixed by Andy Cato. (The video is not the original one, as it was not released yet)
