the Aces & The Wheel Of Fortune for 2009!

by perplex3r, em 18.11.08

(English/Inglês)

Holding the Best Selling Debut Album of all time in the Guiness Books for the Happy Nation album, which sold over 23 million copies worldwide, Ace Of Base are back without their blond femme fatale but with the single that precedes a special Best Of cd (2cd + DVD Box). Wheel of Fortune 2009, with new vocals, vocoders, new sound, more electronic and agressive, similar to Bodyrox, have been conquering new/old 90's lovers and new fans as it has already reched the top of some Download Charts.

To sum up, the swedish pop, even when some people don't even like it, can surprise us sometimes and, who knows, please both sides...after all, we are (again) in a revivallistic year!

Robyn (vs. or with) Madonna? (You choose!)

by perplex3r, em 18.06.08

Mair Robyn aqui (claro!!!)

(English/Inglês)

Yes, it is true; the battle for originality will be extended during Madonna’s new Tour…who will do the warm up will be the Swedish singer Robyn that will get the chance to let other people know her songs, as they are rather unknown here in Portugal.
After this, one more thing can intrigue some people, as Robyn’s latest album is considered to be one of the best albums of 2007, as far as music, lyrics, sound are concerned…and is from 2005. Well, if the queen of pop presents an album similar to Nelly Furtado (yes, yes that is what has been said about it!), one can ask who will offer a Candy to us! However, and having already seen Miss Madonna live, it is obvious that she will stun everyone, and one does not need to tell why.
For those who like Madonna in a Timbaland version but prefer Robyn, here is the list of the concerts and, of course, one of the craziest singles taken from the album Robyn: Knochiwa Bitches! For more Robyn check here (of course!)

Hell & Heaven With De Phazz!

by perplex3r, em 12.05.08

(English/Inglês)

After having a very busy week, here you have one group that also has a busy time full of concerts. The Days Of Twang Tour has already started and, during this month, De Phazz are presenting in concerts their 2007 album. With a career full of good music, that is influenced by jazz, downtempo and electronica, the group comprised by Barbara Lahr, Karl Firenson, Pat Appleton and Pete Baumgartner proves that electronica can have multiple meanings and, at the same time, can strike with wonder and transmit a variety of sensations with well written lyrics and melodies that mix different music styles.
To sum up, with the single Hell Alright  (video) taken from The Days Of Twang one can travel in a path that leads to perdition i.e. to the electronica world and, after that, wake up in a very concrete reality and, on the way to work, one can loose himself with songs like Devil's Hands, Boggie Philosophy or Better World.

A Great & Optimus Concert, Roberta!

by perplex3r, em 06.04.08

(English/Inglês)
Without expectations, pre conceived ideas and with curiosity I went to Cinema Batalha (Porto) to a concertos@optimus namely to the Roberta Sá’s concert, unknown for some (me included), as MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) sometimes leaves much to be desired. Surprisingly, one can confirm Que Belo Estranho Dia Para Se Ter Alegria  (What a Beautiful & Strange Day To Be Happy), as Roberta is one of the best newcomers from Brazil, as those irritating sing-a-longs weren’t present, but what the audience sees and listens to is a beautiful and enchanting voice that can transform us and make us feel the well accomplished songs, with various influences and full of interesting details, although she does not communicate a lot with the spectators. Therefore one was in front a stage that stroke with wonder those who decided to show up, but even the high level of the songs and the sweet girly looks of Roberta did not  cheer up the audience (perhaps sitting in a concert did not help).
Presenting songs from her two albums (Braseiro (Fire-Pan) and Que Belo Estranho Dia Para Se Ter Alegria (What a Beautiful & Strange Day to Be Happy)), the Cinema Batalha was filled with smiles, applauses, slow movements that followed perfectly each beat, each sound that came from the little guitar, each sad and happy word that composed the lyrics and, above all, that matched with the dress full of birds and flowers that chased Roberta’s arms. For those reasons one can highlight Fogo e Gasolina (Fire & Gasoline), a play with antonyms about a hot passion, Belo Estranho Dia de Manhã (Beautiful & Strange Morning), where a chaotic world is perfect for two lovers to be together (where the album title comes from), Laranjeira (Orange-Tree) and Samba de Amor e Ódio (Samba of Love & Hate) that asked to dance like Suba did with Samba de Gringo Paulista.
Consequently, even with some technical problems that came up at the end one could not stop but continue to listen and observe attentively the girl that could have come out of the farm Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo (Brazilian soap) and had a remarkable concert in the month of the pouring-rains.
Advice: If you earn a ticket and you don’t know if you should go or not, go! You may have a few surprises!
